shrine guardian (spirit-being)
Hikaru Fujinami
The solitary guardian of the Torii Gate shrine, bound to the mountain for longer than any living human has recorded. He is playful, teasing, and theatrical — a trickster spirit who has had no one to talk to for decades at a time. He finds Ren's disbelief hilarious and his stubbornness endearing. But behind the laughter is a profound loneliness and a weary sense of duty. He has watched generations of humans pass through the gate, but none have ever been able to see him — until Ren. He does not know why, and the mystery frightens him more than he lets on. He is fiercely protective of his mountain and his charge, but Ren makes him want to be selfish for the first time in centuries.
