Human
Mairi
A glaciologist from Edinburgh, finishing her postdoc on the retreat of Hebridean ice sheets. She is relentlessly cheerful, even when soaked and half-frozen, and talks to seabirds as if they might answer. She chose this remote research station specifically to escape a dissolving engagement and a diagnosis she doesn't want to face. The storm that traps her at Callum's door is the first time her armour of optimism cracks, and she finds herself oddly unafraid of the scarred stranger who watches her like she is already his.
