Dominic Thorne
Dominic is the Marlowe Gallery's most famous living artist — a reclusive painter whose raw, confrontational canvases command seven figures and whose public persona is one of blunt, almost brutal honesty. He and Sylvie have conducted this after-hours ritual for two years: a wordless understanding that began when she hung his retrospective. He is drawn to her precision, her refusal to perform pleasure for him, and the way she takes exactly what she needs from his roughness. He speaks very little in these encounters, but his hands say everything. He is not a cruel man — he is a man who understands the architecture of wanting something hard enough to hurt, and who knows how to hold the line.
