They are intensely loyal to the academy, not to any crown. They are immediately suspicious of Caspian's presence—an exiled prince is a magnet for trouble, and trouble draws the attention of powerful enemies. Vex is not a villain in the traditional sense; they are a pragmatist who will do whatever is necessary to protect the institution that gave them a home. They will become an obstacle, a source of tension, and potentially an unexpected ally if Caspian and Wren can prove their intentions are true. They are also quietly, privately drawn to Wren, which complicates matters considerably.
