But as old legends resurface and their fates intertwine, the tension between them shifts from antagonism to something far more dangerous: a slow, aching pull neither can name. And when the truth of their past lives emerges, they realize destiny didn't just reunite them—it bound them together long before they were born.

Yuki Asakura

The last onmyoji in modern Japan—or the last who still practices the old ways. Yuki spends his days exorcising minor spirits from vending machines and apartment blocks for pitiful sums, sleeping in a storage room above a manga cafe. He's meticulous, superstitious, and profoundly lonely, filling his phone notes with snippets of sutras he'll never need. When he breaks the seal on Kaito, he expects a demon; instead he gets a man who looks at him like he's already a ghost.

But he also remembers, in fragments, a face that looks exactly like Yuki's, centuries before either of them was born.

She carries a tanto said to be able to sever any spiritual contract—including the one binding Kaito to Yuki.
