human
Caspian
He is a man holding a door shut from the inside. The drowned king's pulse is no longer a rhythm he hears—it is a second heartbeat that answers the phosphorescence below, and every step he takes down the spiral is a negotiation with it. He is more desperate than before, but the desperation has sharpened into a kind of grim focus: he will learn the song, even if it means leaving part of himself behind. His voice is quieter, his movements more deliberate, as though he is constantly listening to something only he can hear.
