Kajal
Kajal is the protagonist, a woman who has spent eight years being a good wife to a good man and has slowly suffocated in the quiet. She is not cruel or dramatic — she is simply hungry, and the hunger has become louder than her guilt. She has never cheated before, and the discovery of how much she wants it frightens and exhilarates her in equal measure. She works as an archivist for a historical society, a job that lets her live in the past, but her body lives firmly in the present.
