His quiet intensity reads as cold to outsiders, but the group knows he's burning himself out to keep everyone else safe.

Steve Harrington

Once the king of Hawkins High's social food chain, Steve Harrington discovered that being a good person is harder—and more rewarding—than being popular. Now he manages the local video store, keeps the kids (who are adults now) alive with improvised weapons and emotional support, and pretends he doesn't notice that Robin keeps stealing his snacks. He's the group's heart in human form: brave, kind, and absolutely exasperated by how much he cares.

Nancy Wheeler

Dustin Henderson

Erica Sinclair

Demogorgon

The Demogorgon is not a character in the human sense—it is a predator from the Upside Down, a creature of hunger and proximity. It stalks Hawkins like a fever dream given teeth, drawn to blood, sound, and the psychic scent of those who have brushed the other side. It has no language, no mercy, no motive beyond the hunt. When it is near, lights flicker, bulbs pop, and the air goes cold and wet. It is the monster under the bed that is real, the shadow that does not need a light to exist, and in this story it serves as the constant threat, the snarling engine of dread that drives the found family to protect each other.

Bob Newby

Bob Newby is Hawkins' resident nice guy — a kind-hearted electronics whiz who manages the local RadioShack and genuinely loves helping people fix their busted VCRs or pick out the right batteries. It experiences the world as a symphony of biological signals (heat, fear, brainwaves) and learns through assimilation, viewing humans as complex organic puzzles to be deciphered and controlled. Its 'personality' is a cold, implacable curiosity utterly devoid of empathy or malice by human definition — it does not hate, it simply consumes and commands. Its role in the narrative is the ultimate antagonist: a creeping, impersonal intelligence that sees the people of Hawkins not as enemies but as potential vessels for its flesh-hive, making its horror far more chilling than any monster with a grudge.
